The Town of LaSalle was originally located on the bank of the Detroit River on what is known as the "Nautical Mile" in Essex County.  Today the Town of LaSalle is a rapidly urbanizing municipality situated in the northwest quadrant of Essex County, bordered by the Town of Amherstburg to the south, the town of Tecumseh to the east and the City of Windsor to the north.  The Detroit River forms the westerly boundary of the town.  Approximately 50% of LaSalle's total land area of 6,500 hectares is urban in nature.  The remaining lands are rural, comprising cash-crop farming, rural residences and natural heritage features. LaSalle's population of over 25,000 continues to grow -- the area is attracting both residential and commercial developments alike, but continues to retain it's "small town" feel.  The LaSalle Strawberry Festival, held the first weekend of June each year, is the unofficial start of Summer and attracts thousands of residents, throughout Essex County and beyond.

The Town of LaSalle's Cultural and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of programs and facilities for residents and visitors -- including over 100 acres of parkland and a wide variety of walking trails.  The Millennium Garden at Gil Maure Park and the Vollmer Cultural & Recreation Complex are a few of the area's newer attractions.
