Lit Up

Transition to Betterness (T2B) hosted yet another successful and lively fundraising event - "Lit- Up" raising a grand total of $36,500.  "Lit-Up" was held at the Wiser’s Reception Hall and was chaired by Darcie Valente, who's family's loss inspired her to give back to the cause that brought such comfort to them.  "My husband Peter recently lost his grandmother to Leukemia" recalls Darcie.  "Her final days were spent in a Windsor Regional Hospital newly refurbished Transition to Betterness room which made her feel like she was at a 5 star hotel.  The room’s serene décor and modern amenities kept Grandma happy and comfortable.  And in her final moments, she was privately surrounded by her large family of 22 children and grandchildren.  This meant the world to us.  After she passed, Peter and I wanted to give back to the cause that left such a huge impression on our hearts."

And so Darcie did just that.  The night was elite and glamorous, clad with white drapery, hot pink up-lighting, and crystal chandeliers, giving the venue a chic club like atmosphere.  Wisers specialty cocktails, Hors D’oeuvres finely prepared by Koolini, gogo dancers from The Dance Barre, and great music provided by The Spidarieri Group kept the crowd energized throughout the night. The vibe in the room was off the hook!  VIP sponsors arrived in style courtesy of Royal Limosines of Windsor and enjoyed exclusive cabana-like tables, private servers, premium bottle service and take-home swag bags.  Raffle Items including a 2.03 CT Diamond Tennis Bracelet donated by Joseph Anthony Fine Jewelry and Live Auction packages donated by Barry and Stephanie Zekelman contributed to the event's success! Also, the Valente Family of Valente Real Estate challenged guests to make donations towards their Match Grant Challenge where The Valentes' matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000 what the room was able to donate that night.

"Lit-Up" was sponsored by: Valente Real Estate, Wiser’s, Barry and Stephanie Zekelman Foundation, J. Rauti Custom Homes, Rosati Group, PWC, St. Clair College, Double Diamond Acres Limited, Unique Tool and Gauge Inc, Timberland Homes, Landscape Effects, Dr. Niren & Sharona Naidoo and Deerbrook Realty.   T2B along with Darcie would like to thank all of these sponsors for their generosity along with the other 140 attendees. It is with your continued support that we are able to make a difference in the community.  Darcie Valente is already looking forward to planning for "Lit-Up" in 2012!
